We fetch the HTML at your URL (HTTPS, redirects followed, capped at 4 MB to stay polite with the upstream).
We extract meta robots, viewport, og:image, canonical, hreflang, lang, description, author and every JSON-LD block.
6 audit categories: indexability (HTTPS, noindex, canonical, lang), Discover signals (max-image-preview, viewport, og:image, schema, author, publisher), editorial quality (title, description, H1, words, alt, internal links), Open Graph, i18n (hreflang) and Web Vitals via Google PageSpeed (LCP, CLS, TBT, FCP). Plus a hero image audit via Anthropic Claude (8 technical criteria + AI vision + title↔image alignment).
Each check returns pass / warn / fail (−22 pts per fail, −7 pts per warn) aggregated into a 0-100 score. The verdict names the specific blocker on a critical fail (HTTPS, noindex, max-image-preview). Each rec ships with ready-to-paste code prefilled with your real values (URL, og:image, title, description). The AI even rewrites your title and description to fit the Discover sweet spots (50-65 / 140-160 chars).
HTTPS, mobile-friendly, and max-image-preview:large. Without these three, your page won\'t appear on Discover, no matter how good the content is.
max-image-preview:large critical?
This directive lets Google show a full-screen thumbnail (Discover's signature format). Without it you get a mini-thumb at best, nothing at worst — and a collapsed CTR.
Not blocking, but strongly recommended. Discover prioritizes pages with a well-formed NewsArticle or Article schema. Our Schema Auditor validates it for you.
No. hreflang only matters when you signal alternate language versions. If you only publish in English, ignore that warning.
Each fail costs −22 points, each warn −7. Anchored at 100, capped at 0. The global score is the weighted average across categories (Discover signals 1.6× + performance 1.4× + indexability 1.3× + quality 1.2× + social 0.8× + i18n 0.6×). Score ≥ 80 = eligible, ≥ 55 = partial, otherwise not eligible. A fail on HTTPS, noindex or max-image-preview automatically caps the verdict at not eligible.
